Gandhar Savur is a transactional attorney based in NYC, and a founding partner of Savur Threadgold LLP; a boutique entertainment and IP firm that represents individuals and businesses on matters related to entertainment, corporate, transactional, employment, intellectual property, and contract law.
Gandhar has a wealth of experience in the music industry, particularly in the areas of licensing, recording agreements and publishing. Gandhar’s roster of music clients includes artists, labels, publishers, producers, managers, songwriters, and publicists. Gandhar especially enjoys representing bands, and is lucky to currently represent artists such as Built To Spill, Cigarettes After Sex, The Antlers, Jeff Rosenstock, and King Khan. He also currently serves as general counsel for a small group of music related companies, including television and film licensing company Bank Robber Music, music publishing company Rough Trade Publishing, and independent record label Ernest Jenning Record Co. Before practicing law, Gandhar began his career in the licensing department of Matador Records. Prior to that, Gandhar played in numerous touring bands.
Gandhar studied business at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, graduating in 2000 and earned his J.D. from St. John’s School of Law in 2005. He is a member of the New York and Florida bar associations, and is an avid supporter of Arsenal Football Club.
In August of 2014, Gandhar was listed in Billboard Magazine amongst the Superlawyers Top 50 Go-To Lawyers in the Music Business.
