Elizabeth Penta, President, Emcee Artist Management

Elizabeth Penta is a 25+ year music industry veteran who got her start booking bands and curating art exhibits circa 1990 at CBGBs-affiliated performance space CB 313 Gallery in New York City. It was there that she met then fledgling band Medeski Martin & Wood who asked her to join them on the road as tour manager. She ultimately grew into the role of full-time manager, helping to guide their career as they developed into one of the most successful experimental instrumental bands in modern music history. In 1998, Liz founded Emcee Artist Management, setting up shop in Tribeca where her office still resides today. Her current roster includes Medeski Martin & Wood, The Wood Brothers, Nels Cline (of Wilco), John Medeski, Jenny Scheinman and Gill Landry (of Old Crow Medicine Show). Liz has been a member of the Tibet House Auction Committee, and has produced numerous grassroots events, including a multi-disciplinary concert and political rally for Hudson Valley Votes at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY and We Shall Not Be Moved: An Evening of Spirituals to Benefit Frack Action at the Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock. Additionally, she runs two independent record labels for her artists and has worked with the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival since its inception in 2002.
