Since 2008, she has been an active member of the NY Chapter of The Recording Academy/GRAMMY’s. Elected to multiple terms as Governor and Secretary of the Executive Committee. Currently serving her third term as Co-Chair of Advocacy Committee and member of the Professional Development Committee. In 2012 Tapper Co-Founded the New York City Creative Community (NYC3) a group of music business creative professionals who have joined forces to strengthen, develop, revitalize and support the music community in NYC. She was recently elected to the Board of the NY Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP).
Initially as VP Creative at Kobalt Music Publishing (2003-2011). During her eight years at Kobalt, Sharon was responsible for signing artists such as Slash, G. Love, The Dresden Dolls, Gomez and Harry Connick Jr. as well as publishers Arthouse, TVT, Red Bull Media, House of Hassle (now Rough Trade), Reservoir and Razor & Tie. She then became SVP Music Publishing at Razor & Tie Music Publishing (2011-2015). Sharon and her team had many U.S. hits and singles including four Country #1’s (Blake Shelton “God Gave Me You” & “Over”, Jake Owen “Alone With You” + Tyler Farr “Whisky In My Water”), 5 x platinum certified “Home” performed by American Idol Winner Phillip Phillips, Mary J Blige “Suitcase” and Jessie J’s “Masterpiece”.
Sharon relocated to the US in 1993 to work in artist management, living in LA. As Assistant Manager at Left Bank Management (1993-1997) she worked with The Cranberries, Meat Loaf and Richard Marx. She also became Tour Marketing Manager for roster inc. Duran Duran, Luther Vandross, John Mellencamp, Motley Crue and The Bee Gees. After moving to be Assistant Manager at Gallin Morey Management (1997-1999) she worked with Lisa Stansfield, Neneh Cherry and Eagle-Eye Cherry. After relocating to New York she became Artist Manager at The Umbrella Group (1999-2005), where she worked with CAKE, Bebel Gilberto, Eagle-Eye Cherry, Neneh Cherry and Grant-Lee Phillips.Initially starting her career in London as Assistant Manager at Sarm West Studios (1989-1993), a studio owned and operated by Trevor Horn. Frequent clients at the studio included Seal, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Kamen and Sir Paul McCartney.
